S-adenosylmethionine is a coenzyme involved in methyl transfer reactions that exists in all eukaryotic cells. After losing this activated methyl group, SAM becomes S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH). It was discovered by scientists (Cantoni) as early as 1952. S-adenosylmethionine is widely present in various organisms, participating in more than 40 biochemical reactions in the body, and plays an important role in the synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids, neurotransmitters, phospholipids, and vitamins. S-adenosylmethionine is an important metabolic intermediate, which plays a crucial role in the normal metabolism of the body.

SAMe is a common auxiliary substrate involved in methyl transfer. It is synthesized by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and methionine under the action of Methionine adenosyltransferase. SAMe refers to S-adenosylmethionine and cannot exist alone. S-Ademetionine Disulfate Tosylate (Ademetionine Disulfate Tosylate) is a salt form of adenosylmethionine. Generally, customers refer to it as S-adenosylmethionine p-tosylate sulfate.
